PLAYING INGRID

Character overview

Ingrid’s conversions depend on Sun Symbol resources. Sun Flare routes and projectile-supported movement give her a plan for preparing and spending them, while Sun Rise knockdowns provide a simpler pressure task. Learn the low-resource fallback as carefully as the stocked route.

Strengths

  • Stored Sun Symbols expand the conversion reward described in the guide, making resource preparation meaningful.
  • Sun Shot and the listed Sun Rise follow-ups connect projectile use and close offense without requiring every opening to become a maximum-resource combo.

Weaknesses

  • A stocked showcase route does not represent an empty-resource situation. Choosing it without checking symbols can leave the conversion unfinished.
  • The character assessment flags close defense as demanding. Preparing resources should not replace learning what to do when the opponent reaches you.

Best range / preferred gameplan

Use Sun Shot to support movement toward a known starter and look for the guide’s light Sun Flare resource-building route. Spend symbols on a conversion you can complete. After medium Sun Rise, use its listed dash into a close decision rather than assuming another resource-building action is always appropriate.

Key tools to learn first

Sun Shot

Practice the projectile alongside the movement you want afterward. Repeating it without a position goal does not build the rest of the plan.

Sun Flare

Keep resource-building and resource-spending routes separate in practice. The move list distinguishes its levels and conditions.

Medium Sun Rise

This finish leads into a documented dash and medium-punch/throw decision, making it a useful first setplay target.

Beginner practice order

  1. Build and spend deliberately

Practice the listed light Sun Flare route, check the symbol display and then choose one compatible stocked extension.

  2. Keep an empty-stock route

Reset the symbols and complete the fallback instead of leaving training mode permanently stocked.

  3. Learn the Sun Rise approach

After the exact medium-version finish, rehearse the dash into crouching medium punch or throw, then test waiting against a wake-up attack.

Common mistakes

  • Watching only Drive meter while ignoring the Sun Symbols required by the selected route.
  • Trying to build another resource immediately after every knockdown instead of recognizing available close pressure.

COMBO PRACTICE NOTES

INGRID: choosing and practising your routes

Ingrid practice starts with medium Sun Rise enders and then adds Sun Shot pressure. Practise Drive Rush pickups after airborne hits separately from grounded combos.

Strength to build around

Combo damage with stocks available is a strength.

Limitation to plan for

Damage without symbols is a concern; distinguish those routes from stocked routes.

What to learn first

Start with crouching LK into standing LP, standing LK, and medium Sun Rise, plus standing MP–MK into the same ender.

Turn the route into a match decision

Separate strike-and-throw follow-ups after medium Sun Rise from its light Sun Shot setup. Check Sun Shot after a corner forward throw as a different setup.

These practice notes follow the published guide and combo material. Check the combo page for route conditions and the frame table for move values.

INGRID video lessons

Ingrid’s collection combines stock-tool and move introductions with coaching, a matchup lesson with Utahiroba and practical matchup footage. Choose an introduction or a match-focused example.

Original video titles and Japanese commentary are preserved. Balance-update opinions and numerical examples belong to the version recorded; use the linked frame and combo pages for current reference data.
